Benylin Infant’s Cough Syrup is a treatment that helps to relieve the effects of a cough. The active ingredient of this syrup is glycerol. Glycerol is a lubricant that soothes the mouth and throat and reduces the effects of a dry, tickly cough.
What causes a dry, tickly cough?
A dry, tickly cough can be caused by an infection, such as a cold or the flu. This is because irritation in the mouth and throat can occur. A dry, tickly cough is different from a mucus cough as a mucus cough causes phlegm or mucus to be brought up. A dry cough can also be caused by an allergy, smoke, or by heartburn.
Who is this Benylin medicine suitable for?
This Benylin medicine is suitable to be used by children aged from 3months to 5 years. Anyone older should get advice from a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist on what medicine to use. This medicine should not be used by any child who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the medicine. If a child has an intolerance to some sugars or is using any other medication, then seek medical advice before using.
How to Use:
- Babies under 3 months: Do not give to babies under 3 months.
- Children from 3 months to 5 years:
- Children 3 months to 1 year: One 5ml spoonful.
- Children 1 to 5 years: Two 5ml spoonfuls.
Give the dose 3 or 4 times within 24 hours, if needed.
If symptoms persist for more than 3 days, consult your doctor.
Each 5ml of liquid contains 0.75ml of Glycerin.
